for the cool kids . . .

Is it just me or does the Nike+ Fuelband seem like a hipper version of the BodyBugg (made famous by The Biggest Loser)?  It tracks movement, calories, etc., but without the baggage of being for, well, chunky people.

I actually tried a GoWear Fit version (slightly cheaper but essentially the same as BodyBugg) back when neither had an app or wireless synching functionality.  Unfortunately, I found that the constant need to physically sync to a computer to see and analyze results and enter food was just too cumbersome.  (Thank goodness for eBay!)

Anyway...

Now Nike is in the picture with their version and while it only seems to track calories burned, not consumed, it seems like that would be a natural for a 2nd generation version app.  (And since Lance Armstrong was at the big kickoff for this product, it certainly wouldn't surprise me to see a collateration between Nike+ Fuelband and Livestrong's Daily Plate...)

Definitely something to watch.

Anyone pre-order one?  Let us know in the comments.

  1. I looked at all of them, and decided to go with the fit bit. I've had it about a year (original version), it is reliable, descrete so I can wear it with work clothes, traveling, etc, and it holds a charge for most of a week so I don't bring the charger on business trips. Their website has nice food tracking and you can manually add activities if you need to (like swimming). I've measured the pedometer against run keeper and garmin and it's accurate. We bought the new stairs version for my sweetie in December and he is finding it quite motivating as well!
